Harvest is a seasonal publication for social adults interested in gourmet and seasonal cooking. It supports the work of brands who are innovating the food market with interesting eco-responsible products and services.
Year: 2020
This is a personal project that mixes some of my interests. All the brands featured on the magazine are Montreal based brands that I admire.
Enjoy!✨
I learned that because of the abundance of certain products in specific seasons they become less expensive. This idea made me think that applying this concept, people could not only save some money and support local farmers but also have an impact in the way food is produced and when. Unfortunately, this way of consuming is not what we usually see in cooking-related publications.
I decided to create a publication that encourages consuming local and seasonal products by sharing recipes in the shape of visual essays highlighting the natural beauty of all ingredients through photography.
There’s a publication for each season (4 per year) where information about ingredients, the best way to source them, and ideas to cook them are available.
This project is very special for me because it represents a personal fantasy of working with innovative socially responsible brands.
Since the publication is about consciousness, slowing down, and consuming local, the visual language is earthy. It also embodies a type of design whose objective is not to convince people to consume something but to slow down and enjoy the present.
The imagery is edited in a way that highlights the subject without making it unrealistic by using fake colors or editing its "flaws. Bea Lubas photography was chosen for the publication because of its way of capturing the beauty of food that aligns with the aesthetic of Harvest.
