A Professional nightmare is a lighthearted short film by Paige Thomson (a fellow Toronto Film School student) where she illustrates the struggles women face in the workplace as the inequality of opportunities, lack of recognition, and a general sense of men protecting men, to name a few.

PROCESS

The concept for the opening titles was to evoke the mix of mystery, fun, magic/paranormal, and terror that the film portrays. To do so, the aesthetic is inspired by the main character Lilith.

The color palette was directly taken from the character's makeup and a tone of violet was added to represent feminism since this color is used to represent the movement.

To present the opening credits, a series of entertaining spooky situations were illustrated, and the animation of each scene evokes spells and incantations.

Visual language

The visual language of the animation evokes a goth aesthetic. I created a mood board with images that prostrated my vision for the animation.
